Charlotte Chinese Story Time has received a Community Connector Grant from the Arts & Science Council to expand its Children’s Lunar New Year Showcase programming and create more public participation opportunities for children and families across Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

Charlotte Chinese Story Time concluded its two-week Chinese Cultural Immersion Summer Camp, celebrating children’s learning through Chinese language, traditional arts, storytelling, performance, and hands-on cultural experiences.

Charlotte Chinese Story Time raised $14,253 in its 2026 24-Hour Online Giving Campaign, exceeding its $12,000 goal and supporting free Chinese language and cultural programs for children and families in the Greater Charlotte community.

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Charlotte Chinese Story Time (CCST) hosted its 2026 Volunteer Service Award Ceremony and Family Potluck at South County Regional Library. The gathering brought together student volunteers, parents, long-time supporters, and families interested in joining CCST’s volunteer community for the 2026–2027 program year.

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Charlotte Chinese Story Time proudly hosted the Grand Final of the 2nd Charlotte Cup Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest at Fullwood Theater in Matthews, North Carolina.

At Charlotte Chinese Story Time (CCST), we believe that language acquisition flourishes when it is rooted in joy, movement, and authentic cultural connection. This May, in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we hosted a special themed event designed to invite families into a multisensory exploration of Chinese heritage through the lens of two cultural staples: Bao (steamed buns) and Tea.

Charlotte Chinese Story Time joined the 2026 Día Festival at ImaginOn to celebrate children, books, languages, and cultures through Chinese picture books, traditional clothing, cultural games, lion dance props, and hands-on family activities.

CCST hosted a joyful “My Little Hands” Chinese Storytime at SouthPark Regional Library, featuring songs, picture books, movement, and a butterfly art workshop.

Through March, CCST successfully hosted a 4-part coaching series for the 2nd Charlotte Cup and the 2026 National Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest. Guided by Nina Chen, over 120 children mastered vocal techniques and stage presence, transitioning from simple recitation to expressive performance. On February 21, Charlotte Chinese Story Time hosted our very first Children’s Lunar New Year Showcase at Fullwood Theater. Children from many cultural backgrounds and language environments across the Charlotte area took the stage with songs, dances, poetry, comedy, and martial arts.
