Celebrating Mother’s Day 2023 at Charlotte Chinese Story Time

We had a joyful and heartwarming Mother’s Day celebration at Charlotte Chinese Story Time, where families came together to honor the love, care, and strength of mothers through stories, games, and laughter.

This special session featured two beloved picture books — “Mama, Do You Love Me?” and the Chinese picture book “我妈妈 (My Mom)”. Both stories beautifully capture the tenderness of motherhood and helped children express appreciation for their moms in both English and Chinese. The kids were fully engaged, listening to the stories, repeating new Chinese words, and sharing their own thoughts about their moms.

To make the celebration even more fun, we organized a series of interactive parent-child games.

In one of the most popular activities, moms and kids balanced balloons on their heads and raced to the finish line together — laughter filled the room as they tried their best not to drop the balloon! We also had games like hopscotch and obstacle courses, where children competed to earn prizes that they later presented to their mothers as special gifts of love.

The event was filled with smiles, hugs, and heartfelt moments. It was a beautiful reminder that learning language can also be a way to connect across generations and express love in meaningful ways.

We are deeply thankful to all the families who joined us and to our wonderful volunteers for making this celebration so memorable.
