Celebrating Father’s Day 2023 at Charlotte Chinese Story Time

We had a joyful and heartwarming Father’s Day Chinese Story Time at Charlotte Chinese Story Time, where families gathered to celebrate the love between fathers and children through stories, language, and play.

Our featured picture book of the day was “Big and Little”, a charming story about a father and child whose belongings come in different sizes — the dad’s items are big, and the child’s are small. Through this story, children learned the Chinese characters 大 (big) and 小 (small) and even discovered the fascinating origins of these characters in ancient Chinese writing.

To make the learning experience even more engaging, we organized a series of interactive parent-child games. In one exciting activity, children wearing kangaroo jumps hopped across the room to pass balls to their parents — the team collecting the most balls in one minute won a small prize! The laughter and energy filled the room as everyone cheered for their teams.

Another highlight of the day was our “Find Your Child” challenge. Parents had to guess which child was theirs while all the children were wrapped up and disguised. It was both hilarious and touching to see parents carefully observe, listen, and try to identify their little ones — a game that reminded everyone of the special bond between fathers and children.
