From Pictures to Chinese Characters

Discover the fascinating world of Chinese pictographs through stories, pictures, music, movement, and interactive games!

Designed for children ages 3–8, this special Chinese Story Time introduces young learners to some of the earliest Chinese characters and shows how simple pictures of the world around us—such as the sun, mountains, water, trees, rain, and fire—gradually became the Chinese characters we use today.

Through engaging storytelling and playful activities, children will have opportunities to observe, guess, match, move, sing, and play while building a natural connection between pictures, meanings, and Chinese characters.

This program is especially suitable for children who are learning Chinese as a second or heritage language. No prior Chinese reading experience is required. Our goal is to make children’s first encounters with Chinese characters fun, visual, and meaningful.
